Botox Injections for Neck Pain

Botulinum toxin type A (BOTOX) injections are used for patients with chronic neck and back pain. Pain is effectively relieved and need for pain medications is greatly reduced or completely eliminated. This improves quality of life. Usual treatments for myofascial pain syndrome include medications such as anti-inflammatory drugs (such as ibuprofen), steroids and muscle relaxants, and physical therapy. BOTOX is used to treat multiple painful medical conditions, including migraine headaches, spasticity and neck dystonia. It is also used to reduce the appearance of frown lines and wrinkles. BOTOX may offer advantages over traditional therapies for myofascial pain syndromes due to its prolonged and sustained effects.
