Trigger point injection is a good option to treat patients with painful muscle spasms with trigger points. A trigger point is a pain causingarea in the muscle that feels like a knot or a taut band. Often it is tender to palpation. These trigger points may happen in any area of the body but most commonly they develop in the neck, shoulders and low back.

This outpatient procedure is designed to reduce or relieve the pain of trigger points. These small, tender knots can form in muscles or in the fascia (the soft, stretchy connective tissue that surrounds muscles and organs).
